The condition of Lieutenant 11. It. A. Kidston, wlio was injured on December 11 when i'is high-powered sports car crashed into a willow tree near Mercer, has so far improved that he has been discharged frun hospital. He is spending a few days in convalescence with friends in Auckland. His companion, Paymaster-Lieutenant J. G. Bennett, who was more seriously injured, is still In a private hospital in Auckland. Mr. I!, It. Woodcock, of Wellington, representative ol Messrs. J. and N. 'lait, visited Gisborno to-day to make inquiries as to the possibility of the Grenadier Guards Band visiting this district in the course of its Dominion tour. Mr. Woodcock explained that the buml, after playing in Napier, would have two days to spare before their boat left Auckland, and provided the prospects were sufficiently promising it was planned to proceed north via Gisborne, Opotiki, and Whnkatano. He was satisfied that a suitable ground was available in Gisborne, and the facilities available in the Bay of Plenty towns would probably be the deciding factor in the itinerary of the band.
