WAIROA CROWDS
VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC
(Special to the Herald. 1 WAIROA, this day. Christmas Eve in Wairoa attracted a large crowd of shoppers, and business all round was very good. Up to Saturday night., road traffic was far ahead of that for many years, and the passing of cars in the town was the heaviest
ever seen here. Christmas outings were somewhat marred by the heavy showers in the morning, but the weather cleared up in the afternoon. Boxing Day was fine for the Ruakituri sports and the Waikaremoana regatta. These were the two main events in the district, but the holiday resorts attracted their full share of patronage, including the lake, Morere, and Opoutama beach.
