XMAS BUTTER MARKET
INCREASE IN STOCKS
Deliveries of New Zealand butter in London last week for the Christmas trade were large, totalling 2722 tons, compared with 2278 tons during the corresponding week a year ago, but a large increase took place in stocks, which at the end of the week stood at 6215 tons, an increase of 1117 tons on the previous week. Australian deliveries totalled 2004 tons, leaving 2937 tons in store. The retail prices in London remained unchanged, Danish at Is 2d to Is 3d and New Zealand at 9d to lOd. Danish quotations were 98s f.o.b. and 122 s spot. New Zealand butter on the same dato was quoted at 70s to 71s, and the market was described as firm.
