Film Stars’ Wealth
pHARLIE Chaplin, who makes motion pictures on very rare occasions, still is the wealthiest man in Hollywood, the county tax collector revealed in his annual round-up of records.
Stocks and bonds, a film studio and a large Beverly Hills home compose the wealth that came front a cane, moustache, ,and a pair of baggy pants. Total valuation of the property was set at. £655,000.
William P. (Will) Rogers owns horses, mules, cows, houses and things worth more than £200,000. Mary Bickford's wealth is nearly £400,000, while Douglas Fairbanks’ just tops the £200,000 mark. John Barrymore’s yacht, “Infanta,” valued at £IO,OOO, is more than half his wealth of £19,000. Harold Lloyd pay-s off on £165,000 worth of houses, etc. Richard B’arthclmess is on the books for £BI,OOO. A few others: Constance Bennett £8000; Joe E. Brown, £11,510; Gloria Swanson, £7000; and Joan Crawford, £13,000.
Garbo, rated at £OO,OOO a picture, is on the list for £lO for an old model car. She bought a new machine too late io make the tax rolls.
