MAN SENT TO GAOL
IMPOSED ON TAXIDRIVE^

WELLINGTON, last night. Alfred Arthur Gurney, who had over 20 previous convictions for tjis* honesty, was sent, to gaol for a month for imposing on a taxidriver, getting a ride to Pliinmcrton and back on the representation that he was staying at a hotel in Wellington, from which he rang for the car. On finding that the man was not going to pay, tho driver proceeded to the police station, and handed his fare over for investigation, when the whole tissue of lies Was revealed, but there was no .evidence of money.
