MYSTERIOUS ASSAULT

DISCOVERED IN STATION

AUCKLAND, last night
Deserted in Tamaki railway station after being assaulted and robbed of £2O, Leslie Nicholson Allright, 36, a bank clerk, was found by chance on Tuesday afternoon and was admitted to Auckland Hospital suffering from severe head injuries. A considerable element of mystery surrounds the victim’s movements prior to his discovery, and the police are engaged in an effort to trace Ids assailants.
The discovery of the injured man was made by a youth, who heard groans from within the building and found that the door of the station had been forced open. The, injured man had a broken nose and several teeth knocked out. When told he was, at Tamaki, Allright was astonished and was not able to say when or where he was assaulted, or how he came to be in the district. The man’s condition is fairly serious.
