CHRISTMAS GREETINGS
THE KING & NEW ZEALAND
TEXT OF MESSAGES

AUCKLAND, last'night. Messages of Christmas greeting, with special reference to the visit of the Duke of Gloucester, were exchanged between the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, on behalf of the. people of the Dominion, and His Majesty tne King. The message sent by liis Excellency was as follows: “On behalf of the Government and the people of. New Zealand, as well as ourselves, I respectfully tender Your Majesties most loyal and affectionate good wishes foi* Christmas and New Year. We rejoice to have in our midst during! the festive seasoh His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester. ” His Excellency received the following reply from His Majesty ;—“The Queen and I thank you for your message, and much appreciate "ther gqod wishes of the Government and the pedple of New Zealand: We’ are* very glad our son is you, and we hope that the new year wilt oe a liappy aim prosperous one for New Zealand.’’
