“SMITHY” HELD UP
KANSAS CITY, Dec. 21. Strong cross winds prevented Sir Charles Kingsford Smith from completing an attempted record flight, from Burbank, California, to New York He landed here at 3.1 o’clock this afternoon, having left California at 6.48 this morning. He will remain here overnight. He will fly to Cmcinati, and'later proceed to New York. Sir Charles is accompanied by Mr. H E. Walker, a Californian rancher.
