GERMAN PREPARATIONS
NONE TO GO HUNGRY
GERMAN POLICE ACTION
(Received Dec. 24, 11 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 23.
The Yorkshire Post’s Berlin correspondent says that there has been a general determination in Germany that nobody shall go hungry at Christmas. Storm Troops will preside at tables in the streets at which allcomers will be welcome to eat.
Meanwhile, personal exuberance has been checked by a warning that nonpayers of income tax, due in December, will have their names posted for all to see on New Year’s Day. “No child shall lack a Christmas gift.” This is the slogan of the German police, who, despite being poorly paid, have collected considerable funds for this purpose.
