BOROUGH WATER SUPPLY
NO BENEFIT FROM STORM
~,:The position regarding the borough water supply is still acute. No benefit was secured from Saturday’s storm, and consumers are urged to exercise the most rigid economy. Speaking of the matter to-day, the borough engineer, Mr E. R. Thomas, said that the woek-end rainfall at the headworks totalled only .29in., compared with the d.97in. at Gisborne. This was of no benefit at all to the water supply, and he urged consumers to do everything possible to help to conserve the supply. It was necessary to continue the ban on the use of hoses.
