Mrs. M. F. Robinson and her small daughter Barbara left on Saturday on a holiday visit, to Auckland.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ancell left Gisborne on Saturday for Auckland, where they will' spend Christmas and the New Year holidays. .Miss Lillian Harper, who is well known in musical circles in Christchurch, is visiting her aunt, Mrs T. G. Lawless, 8 Ormond road. Mr. and, Mrs. ■ C. A. Sherriff, Miss April Sherriff, and Mr. Lew Sherriff will spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Sherriff, Tolaga Bay. Mrs. T. P. Fotheringbam, Wellington, accompanied by her daughter, Mrs Greenwell Burney, Sydney, left Gisborne on Saturday for Wairakei and The Chateau, Tongariro National Park.

Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Charles, Ashburton, Mrs. W. B. Lawrie, Wanganui, Mrs. Cox, Greymouth, and Miss P. Cox, Ashburton, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Cox, Ormond road.

Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Craig have returned from their beach cottage, and will spend Christmas with their daughter, Mrs. J. R. Sherriff, Tolaga Bay, and later will make a camping tour to Rotorua and Auckland.

Mr Alfred Coleman, son of Mr and Mrs D. W. Coleman, of Gisborne, who for the past 15. years has been resident in Sydney, has returned to New Zealand for a holiday, and is now staying With his parents jn Poverty Bay. He is in the motor industry in Sydney, having learned his trade in New Zealand before crossing the Tasman Sea.

Mr. E. H. Feather, secondary assistant at the Te .Karaka District High School, was given a presentation of a silver, wristlet watch from his pupils at the close of the school year to mark his retirement from school teaching duties in New Zealand. Together with Mrs. Feather, Mr. Feather is leaving shortly to return to England, and when making the presentation, mention was made of the very valuable associations both Mr. and Mrs. Feather had formed, particularly among the secondary scholars. Mr. and Mrs. Feather have been in Te Karaka for the past five years, and proved very popular in the community, especially with the members of the Waikohu Players, of which Mr. Feather was the producer. Mr. and Mrs. Feather expect to leave Te Karaka on January 5 for Auckland, from which port they will sail by the liner Rangitata towards the end of Uve month.
