CHRISTMAS BROADCAST

EMPIRE TRANSMISSION

(British Official Wireless.) Rec. 3 p.m. RUGBY, Dec. 23. The British Broadcasting Corporation transmission on Christmas Day will include a special Empire programme to be broadcast by GSB, GSD and GSG at 1.45 p.m., including relays from Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, South Africa, India, Canada, Ireland, Palestine, and Rhodesia.

His Majesty will broadcast a speech and a special message to the Empire at 3 p.m. approximately. Recordings of this programme, including'the King’s message, will be broadcast during the normal transmissions on Tuesday at 6.5 p.m. and 11.35 p.m., and on December 26 at 9.20 a.m. and 11 a.m.

CHRISTMAS NIGHT ITEMS

An outline of the Christmas programme to be broadcast through the national stations in a relay from tire British Broadcasting Corporation’s stations at Daventry lias been received. Tim programme will be broadcast through New Zealand stations from 1.55 a.in. oil Boxing Day, and .will conclude at 3.07 a.in. with a broadcast of the King’s message from Sandringham. In terms of New Zealand lime, the programme wilt he as follows : —1.55 a.in.: Chimes from tho bells of tlm Church of the Nativity at Bethlehem. 2 am. : Big Ben. 2.2 a.m.: New Zealand Dairy Farming. 2.5 a.m.: Canada, Lumber industry, from the Grouse Mountain chalet. 2.9 a.m.; Australia. 2.12 a.m.: India, Tea Garden. 2.15 a.m.: Great Britain, Chelsea pensioners. 2.17 a.m.: India, Army officer at Khybcr Pass. 2.21 a.m. : Islands, Isle of Man and Isle of Arran. 2.24 a.m.: South Africa. 2.97 a.m.: North Ireland. 2.30 a.m. : Rhodesia, from Salisbury. 2.33 a.m.: Canada, Fisherman’s cottage in one of the maritime provinces. 2.36 a.m.: New Zealand, Whaling industry. 2.30 a.m.: Great Britain, River Mersey broadcast. 2.45 a.m.: Australia. 2.47 a.m.: Canada, Hockey and children’s skating party. 2.49 a.m.: Australia. 2.51. a.m.: South Africa, Johannesburg, and native compound. 2.56 a.m.: Great Britain, from Ilmington. 3 a.m. : King’s message from Sandringham, ending in National Anthem.
