INSTITUTE XMAS TREE

(Horald Corrospontlont.) Last Thursday evening a merry throng | of children ipiti I heir parents assembled, at the Wharerata Hall to do honor to Father Christmas. A laden Christmas tree, provided by the Women's Institute, 1 was given pride of place in the centre ot the hall. The president, Mrs. 0. Swnrbrick, welcomed all. Father Christinas went round shaking hands and passing) jokes with the little people, and then handed them their presents, each clnicl receiving a parcel, a balloon and sweets. < Mr. Wilton Hal). Gisborne, made a very good Father Christmas. Credit is due to Mesdames G. Me Ara and F. Tutenberg, who arranged the presents on the Christmas tree. Father Christmas also called on the president, Airs. 0. Sffarbrick. with a gift. Supper war. served by the hostesses. Mesdames G. Tome. E. Burst and H. Bertlielsen. The adults took the floor after supper and danced till midnight. Music was supplied by medium ol ft gramophone, Airs. W. Torrie playing an enjoyable extra. The evening ended With the Aatmnal Anthem.

A most enjoyable tennis party was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. Williams, at Tarev/a, for the opening of their court. Luncheon was served on the verandah overlooking the gardens, and tennis court, ami was much enjoyed. Among those present were Mesdames T. O’Donnell. M. Hha.w, G. Torrie, A. West, W. Torrie. 11.
