PLANS FOR DRILL HALL
REBUILDING IN GISBORNE
Plans for the rebuilding of the drill hall in Gisborne to meet the requirements of the Defence Department are now' under consideration. Mr D. W. Coleman, M.P., has received the following letter from the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Defence, in connection with the matter: —“l am in receipt of your letter of the 30th ultimo. In' reference to the rebuilding of the Gisborne Drill Hall, the hull will be designed in the first place to meet the requirements of the Defence Department, but if in addition to fulfilling this purpose it can be suitable for letting to local .organisations, without adding unduly to the cost of its construction, consideration will be given to tins aspect of the matter in deciding upon the type of building to be erected.
:‘!<Tho question of what floor space is necessary for defence purposes is now receiving attention, and when I have some information as to this I will communicate further with you.”
