DUKE TO RIDE AT MARTON STAY ON STATION It is officially announced that the Duke oi ! .Gloucester will ride in an amateur event at the Marton races one of Mr. T. A. Duncan’s horses. The Duke of Gloucester, of course, is an accomplished horseman, with n natural seat to enable him to ride in a race.

The itinerary has been altered, involving a reduction of one day in the Duke’s stay at. the Chateau, Tongariro National Park. He proceeds to Mr. Duncan’s estate on December .11 and will have the choico of some of the finest thoroughbreds” in New Zealand. In addition to being a prominent breeder of every class of horse Mr. Duncan is a large sheepowner and for the benefit of the Duke he has arranged for extensive .shearing operations to be undertaken while His Royal Highness is on the property. An opportunity will be presented to the Duke to try out his mount before the rr.ee.

I, and there is every possibility that he will participate in the Ladies’ Bracelet event.

The secretary 1 of the New Zealand Racing Conference stated that an application for a gentleman rider’s license had been made on behalf of the Duke. In all-probability the Duke will ride Black Man, a fine performer owned by Mr. C. L. Bull, which will be a suitable mount at. 11.8. The Duke at that time will be a guest of Mr. T. A.
