LAMBS IN KEEN DEMAND

PIG PRICES RECOVER

All yarding* were very small at the Matawhero stock sale to-day. The fat, sheep entry was practically nil, only five coining forward, while the number of stove sheep, as is usual at Ibis time of the year, was not. great. Only a few fat cattle were entered, and the pig yarding was smaller than last week The market for store sheep was brisk, lambs, which comprised the greater part of the yarding, participating. Pig values recovered somewhat from last week’s decline. FAT, CATTLE.

Only a few l'at cattle were yarded. Cows made from £3 7s 6d to £3 10s, Jersey cows £1 ss, and one good average bullock £b ss.

Prices; 2 Jersey cows, 255; 1 Jersey heifer, 255; 1 good red bullock, £5 ss; 4 good Shorthorn-Jersey heifers, £3 15s; 3 vealers, 14s; 1 solid vealer, 20s; 4 vealers, 15s; 1 Jersey cross runner, 20s; 2 P.A.-Hereford cows, £3 7s 6(1; 2 Hereford cows, £3 10s; 1 Jersey heifer, 20s.

FAT SHEEP The fat sheep entry totalled only five, which sold at late rates. PIGS

The pig entry was smaller than last week. Choice weaners made from 12s to 14s, good 7s 6d to 10s 6<l, slips 15s 9d to 18s 9d, good small stores 20s, and medium 23s 6d. The sale improved on the easier values of last week.

Prices.—Three good Tamworth-crosfj weaners, 9s; 8 do., 10s 6d and 8s; 4 good White weaners, 7s 6d; 3 big slips, 15s 6d; 8 Tamwortli-cross, good small) stores, 2Cs; 5 average White weaners, 6s; 3 medium-sized stores, 23s 6cl; 6 choice Berksliire-Tamw'brth weaners, 14s and 12s: 3 quality weaners, 12s 6d: 1 good porker, 29s 6d; 2 good-sized Tamworth slips, 18s 9d; 8 quality Tamwortb sow slips, 16s, 15s 9d and 16s 3d; 3 do., barrows, 16s 9d and 15s.

STORE SHEEP The ‘ entry of store sheep was just over 800, most being lambs. The sale was brisk, with lambs in keen demand, good lines making 11s 4d to 14s lid* Four-tooth ewes, all fat, made 10s, while wethers brought 17s ICd for good and forward sorts, and 15s 9d for fairly good.
