FLOODLIGHT MEETING CYCLE RECORD EQUALLED Another large crowd attended the Poverty Bay Professional Athletic and Cycling Club’s weekly floodlight sports meeting on the Victoria Domain last night. The atmosphere was warm and conditions generally were ideal for am outdoor programme. Splendid entries came forward, and, with very few defections, fields were large throughout. Some good running and cycling was witnessesd, with close finishes.

W. Pickett put up a good performance by winning both junior cycle races. He made no mistake about the Sutton Stars, winning this race by 10 lengths from the scratch man, H. Preddy,- who also had a good margin over the rest of the field, after making a splendid effort to catch Pickett.

B. Thomson’s attempt to lower his track record of 32 2i-ssec. did not succeed. It .was a fine effort, however, and he equalled his previous best time, and was given a round of applause when the time was announced.

The men’s five-lap handicap was a great race, the first four to finishj passing the post within 3yds. of each other;, A. Glare, on 250yds., put tip a good per, formanc,e, staving off the back-markers until the final sprint, and then finishing fourth, 'only 3yds. behind the winner, H. Easton, vho ran a well-judged race. Music during the evening was supplied, by the Gisborne Military Band, who also played for dancing on the green at the conclusion of the sporty programme. RESULTS INI;DETAIL 75yds. WRESTLING Two very interesting wrestling bouts were put on at the close of the athletic programme. Results were : W, Cooper beat T. Stevens by a fall in the third round as a result of a body scissors. C. Fla veil J>eat T,. Stevens by a fall in the first round, as a result of a dump and a body press. Stevens had an excellent opportunity to equalise, but failed to follow up the advantage he secured by dumping his opponent
