MAGNIFICENT VIEW
P.B. FROM WHARERATA
(Special to the Herald.)
WHARERATA, this day. As tho Duke of Gloucester’s car reached tlie summit of Wharerata, a magnificent view was unfolded. The Poverty “'Bay flats still retained much of their early summer greenness, and lay bathed in sunshine, and from the crest of tho hill a glorious panorama of the district extending far up the coast and taking in such distant mountain peaks as Hikurangi and Arowhana was presented. Sea and sky were a deep translucent blue, with beautiful cumulus cloud effects on the horizon, and the picture presented from the highest point of the road at an altitude of 1610 ft., was one that the Duke is never likely to forget. After His Royal Highness had admired the magnificent view, the procession of cars wound down the long and tortuous descent to the Poverty Bay flats to complete flic last stage of his Journey to Gisborne through 1 cheering crowds at each of the flag-bedecked townships.
