NEW FLYING RECORDS

SOUTH ISLAND AIR ROUTES Record times were established last, week over ail- routes in the .South Island. With their deroplane capable of maintaining a cruising speed of 140 miles an hour, Squadron-Leader M. G. McGregor and Mr. H. Walker, New Zealand contestants in the Melbourne Centenary air race, flew 65 miles from Oamaru to Taieri aerodrome, eri route to Invercargill, in 22 minutes. On their return to Dunedin from the south they completed the last liop of 39 miles from Balcluthn- on Saturday morning in 17 minutes.
