BOOKMAKER FINED
AGENT FOR ANOTHER
(For Press Association.) OAMA'RU 1 , this day
At the Oamaru Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Roy Hunter, 24, a well-known, footballer, was fined £7 10s for bookmaking. He> had been acting as an agent for another. The magistrate, Mr. Bundle, commented adversely on police action in not bringing the ease on sooner. The offence was committed on November 10, and lie was not satisfied as to the delay. Mr. Bundle said it seemed also hardly in order for (he police, when Hunter called regarding obtaining a billiard saloon license, to state' that they could make no promise, but that they might have to bring the matter of a double chart before the court. A warrant should not be held indefinitely, stated the magistrate.
