OBITUARY
ADMIRAL li. C. DALGLISH (Received Dec. 19, noon.) LONDON, Dec. 18. Rear-Admiral Robin C. Dalglish, commander of the Royal Australian Navy, died suddenly to-day, aged 54 years With the passing of Mr. George Wise, Nelson has lost one of its pioneer gold miners. He was born at Neath, Wales, in 1847, and came out to New Zealand when a young man. Ail enthusiastic member of the Canterbury Pilgrims’ and Early Settlers Association, Mr George James Taylor, has died at Christchurch in his ninetyfourth year. lie was 15 years ol age when lie came to New Zealand with lvis parents in the ship Joseph Fletcher. lfis first employment in Ch/istchurch was to drive a cart to the foot of the Bridie Path, taking passengers on their way to and from Lyttelton. Later he found employment on ■Government survey work, after winch he was attracted to tlu* gold diggings in Otago. Returning to Christchurch he worked for Messrs. Bishop and Company for 40 years.
