Mr. N. Loisel, Gisborne, was a recent visitor to Auckland. Mr. E. Clarke, of the Reefton District High School staff, has accepted. an appointment at Gisborne, and will take vp the position here after the holidays. Mr. K; S. Williams, M.l\, acting on medical advice, will he unable to visit Gisborne to-niorrow for. the reception to the Duke of Gloucester. Mi*. G. Crawshaw was to-day reelected by the Cook County Council to represent it on- this Gisborne High School Board of Governors. It was also decided to thank Mr, Crawshaw for his services in the past. The retirement is announced of Mr. A. L. 11. Stott, who has completed 34 years’ service with the Post and Telegraph Department, and who for the past nine years has been postmaster at Taupo. The two naval officers, Sub-Lieut, H. R. A. Kidston and Paymaster-Lieu t. O. Bennett, who were seriously injured in a piotor accident near Mercer Inst Tuesday evening, are now reported to be progressing satisfactorily. , They are out of danger. ‘ ' '.'‘Tv '. ' ;; Quite a number of old friends broke away from their respective groups at Wellington on Saturday to shake hands . with Captain Arthur Curtis, private secretary to the Duke of Gloucester. Captain: Curtis was secretary to Earl .Tellicofi when he Governor-General of New Zealand,' and later served in the capacity of military secretary to Lord Stonehaven in Australia. On the eve of hk fopartnre 'to; take, up the position of manager of the Bank • of New Zealand at Tokoinaru Bay, Mr. L. K. Roskntge was met by the members of the staff of the New ,Plymouth branch of the hank and congratulated on his promotion and 'extended best, wishes for his future. Mr. Roskruge thanked his fellow officers for their good wishes, and said he isms not leaving New Plymouth without sonic feelings of regret.
