POVERTY.BAY CLUB j the Annual meeting The annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Golf Olub' was field in the Mary Elizabeth tea rooms last night, the club captain, Air. - R. ; U. He invited the treasurer, Air. C. H. Bull, to explain the balance sheet. Mr. Bull said that the position was a great deal better tlutn a year ago. Of the surplus of £153, however, the dance contributed £99, and a portion had to be set aside for the tractor mower. The club was £145 in cash better off than 12 months ago, The following officers were elected : President, Mr. E. Af. Hutchinson; vicepresidents, Messrs. J. 11. Bull, F. W. Nolan and G. AI. Kahlenberg; hon. auditor, Air. Ralph Dobson; hon. secretary, Air. B. W. J.'Edwards; hon. treasurer,'Mr. C. H. Bull. .411 of the above officers were re-elected from last year, except Atessrs. Beqlcett- and Gambriil. who took the place of Messrs. R. Barker and C. H. Wells on the committee. The chairman said that the tractor for the mower had 'been purchased at a cost of £247, .and it had been proposed to impose a levy of 5s a member, which would contribute about £6O. Mr G. H. Bull said that about £l5O was in hand to pay for the tractor. The 5s levy would eon tribute about half of the balance, and it was proposed to draw on last season’s surplus to supply the remainder so as to make the transaction a cash one. ATr A. Btoek said that as a matter of principle the .cost of the mower should not be met from one year’s | levy,:. Mr C. 11. Bull replied that, when the matter was l discussed last year an indication was given from the meeting that the-club would not object to a levy. • On the motion of Mr A. F. Salmon, seconded by" Mr W. Cave, it.' was decided unanimously to impose the 5s levy for, the purchase of the tractor. ( The pi-opo.snl to reinstate the entrance fee was discussed at, length, and on the motion of Air Gambriil, seconded by Dr. Kahlepberg, it was decided by a large majority tn fix entrance fees at, £1 Is for seniors and 10s 6d for juniors. On the motion of Air C. H. Bull, seconded by Air A. S. Muir, it was decided to limit the Saturday arid Sunday lady two-day members to the present number. The committee was empowered to go into the matter of public risk insurance, and if this was found satisfactory the club should pay the premiums. It was agreed to abolish tin* privilege of ball branding in future. It was pointed out that the Poverty Bay club -was one-- of -t he- few- golf- clubs which retained the ball-branding system.
