ONLY BOWS PERMISSIBLE There are bound to be many presentations to His Royal Highness at the various receptions and functions in his honor bo be held in New Zealand, On such oeb&sions it is well to remember that, if the precedent established in Queensland is to be observed in New Zealand, His Roval Highness will not shake hands with those who may be presented to him. The introduction will be acknowledged by bows only. It may be remembered that on the occasion of the tour of New Zealand by the Prince of Wales, His Royal Highness suffered for weeks afterward through the effect of the many thousands of handshakes he had to endure. Many people, abhorring the flabby shake, gave a muscular grasp of the hand as an indication of their feelings. While that may have been praiseworthy from one standpoint, the aggregation of such hearty grips had the effect of bruising the finger bones of his right hand to such an extent that it became useless for a period.
