WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
KOTEMAORI MEETING The monthly meeting ot' the Kotomaori Women's Institute was held on Thursday afternoon in the local hall, the president, Miss Monteath, presiding over a good attendance of members. The'proceedings opened with the singing of the institute' song, after which (lie president extended a hearty welcome to Mrs. E-. Stewart, a visitor from Mohaka.
Apologies for absence were received from Mesdannjs Graves, and Praser. The roll call, "Ways of amusing children on wet days," was well responded to. An interesting demonstration on cake icing and decorating was given by Miss Monteath. Mrs. Climo ably demonstrated the rolling of organdie for sachetmaking. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Olimo and Miss Monteath.
The monthly competitions resulted : Best arranged jar of flowers : Mesdames C. Harris. T. MacMillan, and S. Jones, 1 : Mesdames L. Jones, F. Salt, F. Hillard, and Miss Halliburton, 2. Cheapest Christmas gift: Mesdames T. MacMillan and L. Jones, 1; Mrs. S. Jones, 2; Mrs. C. Harris, 3.
A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames R. Climo, T. Gavin, and R. MacArthnr. A very successful meeting was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
