CONFETTI Large Faeketa 1/ T HJE3BALD OFFICE LODGE AFFAIRS HALF-YEARLY MEETING The half-yearly meeting of Turangunm Lodge, No. 7, U.A.0.D., was well attended. In the unavoidable absence 'of the A.D., the meeting was presided over by Bro. W. Jackson, P.D.P. The principal business was the receiving ol the balance sheet and the installation oi oflicers for the ensuing term, the latter function being verv creditably carried out by the D.P., Bro. J. M. Dower, who, at the conclusion of the ceremony, congratulated the lodge on the excellent 1 progress being made, and also on the oflicers who had been chosen to carry tin the work for the next six months. Included in the correspondence was seasonal greetings from the Grand Lodge, ana also a cheque for £l2O in settlement of a claim of a deceased member. Benevolence to a brother in distress was also granted for a period of 13 weeks. Clearances from the Wairoa lodge to Turanganui lodge of two brothers, now resident in Gisborne. were accepted. Sick pay totalling £34 7s Ad was passed for payment. The balance sheet was presented by the secretary, Bro. M. W. Craig, after which the Grand Lodge book examiner, Bro. T. 0. Lawless, dealt with the position of the different funds, pointing out the large amount that had been paid out in sick pay during the past 1.2 months, over £7OO, which in itself showed the great benefit derived by those who were so unfortunate as to he incapacitated and unable to work. Several funds showed small increases. and altogether the balance sheet was a most creditable one. said Bro. Lawless. The balance sheet and auditors' report were unanimously adopted. One candidate for membership was proposed. Tt was resolved, owing to the Christmas holidays, that the lodge me°tiiifc of December 27 should not be held, hut that the management committee meet on that date to pass sick pay. Prior to the closing of the meeting, tin 1 D.P., Bro. Dower, wished the officers and members a "Merry Christmas and a Happy "New Year."
