BOARD'S JUBILEE PROGRESS OF THE PORT (Per Pross Association.) GREY MOUTH, this clay. Trio Greymouth Harbor Board celebrated its'golden jubilee yesterday. A numerous party sailed in the tug Westland over the bar, inspecting the breakwater extensions. It was noted that despite the long dry spell, the bar depth is being maintained at 24ft. The party also inspected workshops, quarry and endowments. A dinner was held in the evening, when the chairman, Mr. Joseph McLean, representatives of local bodies, shipping and commercial interests reviewed ’the progress of the port for the past, half century, enabling vessels of a tonnage of 4COO to work the harbor with facility. They predicted further increased trade.' One member, Mr. D. Term out. pointed out the Governments obligation to subsidise the board to the extent of 1J15.C00 annually for general] purposes in return for endowments taken over, and f.e reminded the community that the State should he held to its obligation.
