LATE MR. F. D. THOMSON
FUNERAL IN WELLINGTON A LARGE ATTENDANCE (Pop Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The funeral of the late Mr. lc D. Thomson, permanent head of the Prime Minister’s Department, took place this morilingi at >St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, there being a very large attendance. The Governor-General,. Lord Bledisloe. as president ot the Executive Council, was represented by Lieut. Ellworthy. The pall bearers were Messrs. C. A. Jeffery, T. R. Aitkin. F. M. Sherwood, .). A." Mitchell. A. W. Milligan, and C. A. Berendseii. The Ministers present were Messrs. Forbes, Ransom, i oung, Cohbe. Hamilton, Macmillan and Smith, and also present were Sir Walter Cam* cross, Speaker of tin; Legislative Council, Sir Charles Stathain, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and a large number of members ot both Houses and also heads of Government departments, and prominent commercial and professional men. The, service was conducted bv Canon Percival James, assisted by the Rev. Ashley Jones. Canon Janies paid a, moving tribute to the work oi the; late Mr. Thomson, saying he had been an influential, if silent, actor in the making of New Zealand’s history during recent years.
