A GIFT TO NEW ZEALAND. —The picture “Carillon,' which has been presented to the people of the Dominion and is now in Wellington. The painting, which is 10ft by 5ft, depicts a phantom army of soldiers descending from the hill to the shore. The theme conceived by the painter, Captain W. Longstaff, is that the spirits of the men of the N.Z.E.F., hearing the carillon, proceed to the seashore to listen to a message of hope from their homeland. Reproductions of the picture are to be sold in aid of the funds for repatriation of returned soldiers.
