Later Ryegrass Crops

DYEGEASS crops in the Gisborne dis- ** trict are later coining t,o maturity than last year.

None of the Poverty Bay crops are cut yet, and present indications are that only a few of the earliest will be ready by next week. At this time last year, cutting was well advanced. Crops this season are also generally lighter than last year, and with the smaller area shut up for certification it appears as though there will be less certified seed available this summer, unless certifications for the commercial grade make up this deficiency. Application for certification as commercial seed need, not be made until the seed lias been machine dressed and is in store.
