MATAWHERO STOCK SALE
SHEEP YARDINGS SMALL BRISK TONE FOR STORES Sheep yardings were small and the fat cattle entry was negligible at the Matavvhero stock sale to-day. Fat sheep brought late rates, and there was a brisk demand for store sheep. Pigs, of which there was a large entry, met a weak market, and passings Were more frequent than usual. BEEF There was a small yarding of fat cattle. Prices: 1 Jersey cow (p), £1; 2 good Jersey heifers (p), £1 ; 1 Jersey heifer, small (p), 12s 6d; 2 do. (p), 16s. FAT SHEEP
Only 117 fat sheep were offered, and they made late rates. Good ewes sold from 12s 9d to 12s lid, with medium weights at 12s Id. Good 2-tooth Southdown ewes brought 18s lOd, and second grade ewes 11s to 31s 4d. Prices: — Ewes. —14, 12s Id; 21, 12s lid; 21, 2-tooth Southdown ewes, 18s 10(1 ; 76, 12s 9d; 16, 12s lOd. Second grade ewes. —4,11 s 4d; 2,11 s.
STORE! SHEEP The yarding of store sheep was 1547. The sale was brisk, with good competition. Lambs, of wbicli there were a few jicns, were keenly sought. Values generally were fully maintained. Twotooth ewes sold from, 19s to 20s 4d; Southdown 2-tooth, to 16s lid; 4-tooth, 38s 7d; light, 7s 4d; fairly good, 9s 10(1; and forward, 9s fid. Wethers brought lo 17s lid; lambs, 14s Id to 14s fid for good lilies; medium, 8s lid to 10s Id. Prices:—

Ewes. —242 4-th, forward condition (p), 18s 7d: 84, mostly'young to 5-yr, forward condition, 14s 4d; 36, mouths’ guaranteed, medium condition, 11s 3d ; 26, light condition, low mouths, 7s 4(1; 53, fair mouths, fairly good condition, 9s l()d : 76, in good order, low mouths, 9s 7d; 42, forward, IDs sd; 56, good mouths, good store condition, 14s 4d ; 71 2-tli, fair size and condition; 20s 4d ; 32 2-tli, very .fresh, 19s; 26 2-tli, ’Downs, full of condition, 16s ltd.
