HIGH 'SCHOOL BREAK-UP PRIZE PRESENTATION LAST NIGHT’S FUNCTION The dose of the school year was signalised by a large, gathering of pupils, o.\-pupils, and parents of pupils at the Gisborne High School last evening, when the annual presentation of prizes took place, and an enjoyable programme of musical and other items was presented by the students. Mr. 1,. I. lUirnard, chairman of the Hoard of Governors, was in the chair, and took an early opportunity to express satisfaction with the large attendance, and tire evidence of continued interest in the school on the part of former students and others. The presentation of prizes won during the year was carried out by the Rev. ,Jas. Aitken, who during his long residence in Gisborne had shown a keen interest in the progress of the school, his two sons having in addition done much to add lustre to the scholastic record of the institution.

The reading of the annual report of the school's activities by the rector, Mr. J. Hutton, was followed .with close attention bv the older people present at the function, who tendered applause for the achievements of the staff during the year now closing. In the course of the evening, the school orchestra and choir made several contributions to the programme, Mr. L. Thomson, a member of the stalf. acting as conductor.

Winners of awards in scholastic and athletic holds, who received the congratulations of Mr. Aitken as their prizes were presented, were as under : Dux of boys.—Ronald Adlam. Form VIB.
