Extra prime heavy lambs made to 26s 7d, prime heavy 22s to 24s lOd; ordinary 19s 6d to 21s 6d; light 16s to l9s. Fat sheep.—The entry totalled 5500, and the quality was good, though a number of lines offered showed signs ot the hot-spell. Vealers.—There was a very heavy entry of vealers and only the best met, any competition, the top price being £4 Is. Store cattle.—There was a small entry and little competition from graziers, and the sale was dull. Fat pigs.—A large entry of porkers and baconers. came forward, and for suitable sorts there was keen export competition. The offering contained a fair proportion, of light and unfinished, which were taken Ot- slightly lower rates. Prices .were, well up to recent values. CATTLE MUCH CHEAPER (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. With exceptionally large quantities oi jeef corning forward at the Westfield fat stock sale, prices receded approximately 15s a head from last weok s quo tations. The quality of the ox beef was generally oi a high standard, hut the number of unfinished cows offering was very much in excess of the requirements, especially in view of the large stocks of ooned beef already held by freezing companies. Some of the cows sold for as low as 255. Extra choice ox beef made 25s per lOOlbs, choice and prime 22s to 245; secondary and plain 18s to 20s; prime youngi cow and heifer beef 19s to 235; other cow beef 11s to 17s. Extra heavy prime steers made from £lO til £lO 10s; heavy prime £8 10s to £9 10s; lighter prime £7 to £8 2s Cd; light prime £6 to £6 15s; small and unfinished £3 2s 6d to £4 15s ; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £5 to £6 10s; heavy prime £4 5s to £4 15s; lighter prime £2 15s to £3 15s; other killable cows £1 5s to £3 ss. The yarding of calves was very full, and although the quality was fair, the offering was in excess of the requirements. The sale opened firmly, but towards the end prices slumped heavily. Runners made £1 13s to £4 10s; heavy vealers £2 12s to £2 18s; medium vealers £2 5s to £2 9s; light vealers £1 4s to £l.Bs; bobby calves 2s 6d. Sheep were forward in rather Jess than usual numbers, and the demand was firm, prices remaining on a par with last week’s values. Exporters were present, but were not able to operate to any great extent, most of their buying being confined to ewes. Heavy prime wethers made 25s to 265; medium' prime 23s to 24s 9d; light prime 21s to 22s 9d ; unfinished 17s to 20s; maiden ewes 17s to 18s 6d; extra heavy prime ewes 15s to 16s 9d : heavy prime 13s 9d to 14s 9d; light prime 12s 6d to 13s 6d; unfinished 8s to 12s; extra heavy prime hoggets 20s to 235; light prime 11s to 19s 6d. The entry of lambs was larger, and although butchers will depend on next week’s sale for their Christmas stocks, there was a firm demand, and prices wore maintained. Prime lambs made 16s to 21s 6d ; smaller 13s to 15s 6d. The yarding of pigs was large, and although competition was steady values tended to ease somewhat. Choppers made £1 12s to £2 10s; heavy baconefs £3 to £3 15s; medium haconers £3 5s to £3 8s; light haconers £2 16s to £2 19s; heavy porkers £2 9s to £2 11s; medium porkers £2 3s to £2 ss; light porkers £1 16s to £2 Is; large stores £1 $s to £2 13s; slips £1 Is to £1 4s.
