ALSATIAN DOGS
TO BE STERILISED
SYDNEY, Dec. 6. The Parliament of New South Wales has passed ■> law decreeing that in certain specified districts Alsatian dogs must bo sterilised. In general the aim is strict control by the local governing authorities. In some parts of the State the dingo, or native dog, held by the pastoralists to be the most cunning animal in existence, is of considerable trouble owing to its raids on sheep and the extreme difficulty there is in shooting or even poisoning it. The Graziers’ Association recommended strict control, the precaution being taken on account of the possibility of stray Alsatians mating with dingoes, from which might be expected an animal akin to a wolf, of great size and strength and endowed with extraordinary intelligence. No importations of Alsatians into Australia are now allowed.
