SECOND TUG WANTED

AUCKLAND HARBOR BOARD £40,000 LOAN PROPOSED (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Statutory authority is to be sought by the Auckland Harbor Board for the borrowing of £40,000 for the purchase of a new tug. The decision was reached when the report of a special committee set up to consider the provision of a second tug for the port of Auckland ""was adopted by the board. The new boat is to be twin screw, its length not greater than 125 ft., and it will be equipped with engines of 1500 horse-power. Tenders will be called in Great Britain.

The opinion was freely expressed that at least two. tugs were necessary to assist in the berthing of large vessels.
