CLOCK TOWER
(To the Editor of tho Iloraid.) Sir, —Amongst other alterations which have been effected in Gladstone road recently, a miniature tower has been erected on either side of the clock tower. These are in keeping with the main tower in as much as they are tho same color and design, but the unsightly black metal spotlights attached to them arc strikingly incongruous. Being a layman, my suggestion may not be practicable, but I should venture to think that had the towers been made broader longitudinally the offending spotlights could have been accommodated in the bodies of the towers themselves and thus be concealed. Further, if they were recessed sufficiently, their glare, which is at present very discon celling to passing motorists, might he obviated. I have no doubt that when the borough engineer’s attention is drawn to this matter he will be able to rectify it without much additional expense.—Yours, etc., “RATEPAYER.”
