LIBEL ALLEGATION
FIRM’S CLAIM FOR £SOO (Per Press Association.) C&HSTCHDBCH, this day. The hearing of the claim for LSCO damages for alleged libel, brought by Jollands, Limited, manufacturer's’ agents, of Wellington, against H. F. Stevens, Limited, wholesale druggists, was continued in the Supreme Court todav.
Henry George Stevens, managing director of Stevens, Limited, giving evidence for the defence, was crossexamined by counsel for the plaintiff. He said lie now realised that it was very serious to say that Jollands were practically in liquidation, though he was convinced in his own mind that they were still in difficulties. Had Jollands gone into liquidation, his own firm would have been left with a big supply of toothpaste, which, would not- be advertised. He had never contemplated that his firm might- get MacLeahs agency. (Proceeding)
