“Maintenance work has been satisfactorily carried out by' the. local authorities, and all highways have been kept in very fair condition,” states the annual report of the Automobile. Widening work is now being carried out on the Waikoau Hill, and'No. 1 camp has been shifted to ‘Sandy Creek. “The increased lorry traffic during the last ’year, with the amount of maintenance metal being well below that of previous years, lias caused a big decrease in the thickness of the metal on the highway.
