FLIGHT RESUMED
LADY SOUTHERN CROSS ARRIVAL AT LOS ANGELES (Blue, Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received November 5, 3 p.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 4. Sir Charles Kiugsford Smith and Captain Taylor took off from Oakland airport at 1.17 p.m. for Los Angeles, where they landed two hours later. Regarding a rumor that he planned to fly from London to Melbourne, "Smithy” said: “There, is nothing in it.” He. said lm contemplated going to New York from Los Angeles. A throng of 5000 watched tlie takeoff, in contrast to the lack of greeters this morning, because of the surprisingly speedy arrival. After resting at his brother’s Lome, “Smithy” did not touch the luncheon which had been prepared, but left promptly for the airport. The fivers circled the field several times, escorted by several private planes, before heading south.
His brother informed tho press that “Smithy” estimated that lie had averaged 160 miles ail hour from Honolulu.
