Up to bop-; tember, 1938, the total number of; vehicles imported was 5328, and in the same period -of the previous year the. total was 3199. . 1 Vehicles imported in the first nine: months this year were valued at £1,030,888 for purposes of assessing duty, com-i pared with £919,-653 in the corresponding period last year, £337,774 botweeu January and September in 1932, and £456,156; in'the first three quarters of 1931. Tfie United Kin gdoin accounted for 3311 cars and chassis, valued at £455,029, out t>f the total imported of 6836 set down at £836,764.
