RUMORED PACT

The News-Chronicle understands that the German Ambassador to Rome, von Hussel, will return thither with a proposal for a 10-year pact of non-intcrfcroncc in Austrian affairs. In this way, the problem of' preventing Austria from becoming a European battlefield may bo unexpectedly solved. The proposed pact to be really valuable, should contain explicit assurances that no signatory will allow its troops to cross, the Austrian frontier or indulge in anti-Austrian propaganda. ' Germany may lie prepared to make those promises.
