MELBOURNE AIR RACE 13TH PLANE ARRIVES ATLANTIC FLIGHT OFF (Elec. Tel. Copyright —United Press Assn.) (Received Get. 16, 11 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 15. The Australian Press Association correspondent at Mildenhall, says that to flay was chiefly devoted to important formalities, the weighing and cheeking of machines, for the inherent dangers oi the race are sufficient without allowing any ambitions competitor to overload with petrol. Such practice seems to be essential, as their difficulty ia landing yesterday demonstrated. Indeed, experts here consider that; the Comet’s biggest handicap probably will he in landing. “The Atlantic flight is definitely off,” said Amy. ** f think it would have been less risky, even at this time of the year, than the air race, but the absence of a reply to our offer makes it, too late to bent the steamers carrying the films. ” . Passengers in the KLM Douglas machine include Miss Thc.a ftasehe, the German nviatrix, who is writing the air race for German newspapers.
