ALLEGED ILL-TREATMENT PROTEST IN BRITAIN (British Official Wireless.) Bee. noon. RUGBY, Oct. 15. Sir John Simon received a deputation from the National Council of Labor, members of which urged the British Government to use its influence with the Austrian Government on behalf of Austrian Socialists and trade unionists concerned with the events of February hist.
In reply, the Foreign Secretary said the Government had followed the matter closely with particular concern. Everyone would realise that the matters raised were largely the domestic concern of the Austrian Government, but the latter doubtless was aware of the feelings which the conditions described were bound to arouse in British public opinion.
