THE WEATHER To-day’B North Island Report. Blue skies were reported this morning at Napier and Opotiki, but overcast conditions prevailed elsewhere in the North Island. Light to moderate northerly breezes were general. The barometer had commenced a rising movement. Temperatures at 9 o’clock were: Auckland 65 degrees, Tauranga and Napier 61, Opotiki 64, East Gape and Wellington 60. and Gisborne V>. Rough seas were reported at Tauranga; elsewhere moderate or smooth. Last Night’s Forecast Pressure is .high qver most of the Tasman Sea and the. New Zealand area, the highest reading being at the Chatham Islands. In the north, however, it is relatively low. Winds light to moderate predominating, and freshening gradually in and south of Cook Strait. »-cas smooth to moderate, but rising to-morrow about Cook and Foveaux Straits. In tne Pastern Tasman freshening northerly winds; smooth to moderate but vising seas. Weather cloudy to overcast over the North Island, with scattered light nun, but gradually improving, lvsewhere fair;' temperatures cool to moderate. Midday Forecast General inference.—Pressure has risen still further to the. eastward, but has fallen slightly over New Zealand, where stagnant conditions prevail. A depression is located over south-eastern AusU Forecast.-Light to moderate northerly winds prevailing, some isolated light rains likely, but weather mainly taw amt mild. Seas, smooth to moderate.
