EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS HIGH MASS CELEBRATED BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 13. Under a broiling Argentine springtime sun, 500,000 of the Roman Catholic Church’s faithful assembled to-day to partake of pontifical high mask. So terrific was the heat in the open-air cathedral that 400 women and girls collapsed. Laymen and priests alike were permitted to cover their heads against the sun. Palermo Park, a huge track on the Rio de la Plata was crowded far beyond the 250,000 seats erected for the Eucharistic Congress, the congregation converging at the 105 ft high cross in the centre, of Avnida Alvear.

Bishop Orihuelay, of Aliate, Spain, officiated at mass, in place of the papal legate, Cardinal Pacelli, who officially opened the recently-con-structed church of Santaro Adelima.

A great sea of humanity congregated in Palerimo Park on Saturday afternoon to hear Monsignor Fasolino, Archbishop of Santa Fe, Argentina, speak on the third theme of the International Eucharistic Congress. The theriie was ‘‘Christ the King in the history of Latin America, and especially in the Argentine Republic,” The congress will end on Sunday in a great procession of the holy sacrament.

Pope Pius will impart the Benediction to the closing of the congress by radio.
