MANUTUKE CLUB WIN OVER MERCANTILE A very enjoyable game was played by tlio Manutuke Cricket dub with the Mercantile club during the week-end, on the grounds situated in the picturesque Mamituke Domain. The home side won on the first innings. The Manutuke captain, P. Moscrip, winning the toss, put the visitors in first, and they compiled the satisfactory total of 110 runs, A. Wilson making a useful 26, but misfortune visited Manutuke when their captain had to retire, owing to a. ricked back, and H. Beets substituted. Just before lunch the home side took up the batting, and were dismissed for 157. G. Klvy making .g, very fine 73, being neatly taken 'by D. Wells off his own bowling. With 80 minutes to go, the visitors once more took the strike, and added another 48 before stumps were drawn. Runs were kept down to a great extent by the keeper, T. Waters, who is a new member of the Manutuke club, and gave a very fine exhibition of wicket-keeping and batting. After tea, Mr. P. Moscrip welcomed the visitors, and thanked the ladies for their support with the refreshments. The Mercantile captain, Mr. J. Jennings, in reply, remarked that they always enjoyed their games with Manutuke, and endorsed the thanks to the ladies. A motion of thanks was passed to the umpire, Mr. Hamilton, who so ably performed his duties. Scores:
