RIFLE SHOOTING
GISBORNE DEFENCE CLUB OCTOBER HANDICAP, The October competition was continued on Thursday and Saturday by members of the Gisborne Defence Rifle Qub under good weather conditions, and with a good aggregate attendance of members. The match for the week, comprised shooting at 500 and 600yds, 10 shots and two sighters, top score at the 500yds range being registered by A. Ford with 48 out of a possible 50, with T. Jievivel runner-up with 47. At 600yds W. Ellis was top-scorer with 47, and the runner-up was J. Berry, who scored 46. First place in the match went to W. Ellis, whose gross score was 95, including a handicap of 3; S. Pirie and A. Ford both scored 93 also, but were placed second and third on the counthack. The three leading aggregates for the month are: -S'. Pirie (handicap 9), 187: 0. Wootton (handicap 5), 184 : and F. J. .Teune (handicap nil), 183.
