PUHA NEWS

(Herald Correspondent.) General regret was felt at the death of James Otene, a Puha schoolboy. The funeral took place at Kaitara last week, the service being conducted by the Rev. A. R. 11. Morris. Six school-pals acted as pallbearers. There was a good attendance at «a euchre tournament held in the Puha Hall to raise funds for the Puha Women’s Institute. The winners of the tournament were:—Ladies: Airs. M. Brown, 1; Aliss Sefton, 2. Gentlemen; Mr. J. Graham, 1; Mr. J. Bailey, 2. Other prizes were awarded to Miss Harvey and Air. F. Atkins. At the conclusion of the cards a delicious homemade supper was served by the institute members. Preparations are well in hand for the concert which is to be presented in the Puha Hall next Friday by the Puha concert party in aid of dental clinic funds.
