LATE SPORTING
BOXING X.Z. COUNCIL MEETS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Referees and judges to officiate at the New Zealand amateur boxing championships at Hastings next week were appointed at a meeting of the New Zealand Boxing Council Jast night. The referees will be. J. I). Donovan, Hastings, and ,T. W.ilniarlin, Otago, and the judges Messrs. G. Bush, Auckland, T. A. Heath, Napier, and A. J. McArlney and A. Fyffe, Southland. For the test match between Australian and New Zealand amateurs at Invercargill, Mr. A. Tali will be the referee, and Mr. N. McLean will officiate at Auckland. A Wellington referee will act in. the Australians' contest at Wellington. The council declared the New Zealand professional lightweight title vacant owing to the 'holder. J. Franklin, having contravened the rules by demanding a set sum for a championship contest, win, lose, or draw. The ('. llayuer v. A. Hughes bout at Blenheim next Saturday will be for the lightweight title.
