WILEY POST’S PLANS
CONFIDENT OF RECORD
(Bloc. Tel. Copyright —United Tress Assn.) OKLAHOMA OITY, Sept. 13.
Mr. Wiley Post said to-day that bis plane, the Winnie Mae, was so badly damaged in the recent stratosphere test flights that be was forced to abandon Jiis plans to compete in the London to Melbourne air race.
In an interview, Mr. Post said: “A special supercharger will have to be completely rebuilt, and this will take a month or six weeks, for I do not want to rush things. It would be impossible for me to put in replacements and fix up the plane for the Australian race, although I would sure like to be m there with, that bunch of boys.” Continuing, Mr. Post said: ‘‘The stratosphere climb showed no other illelfccts on the craft or motor. I am convinced that I can bang up a new heavier-than-air altitude record the next time, and as soon as I can get some rest, and get those repairs done I am going out to set that mark.” ■ rr
Mr. Post expects to- leave in a few days to join friends, fpr ,a month’s biggame hunting in' Alaska.' .
